It can also be a source of support and connection for individuals who feel marginalised or have limited social interactions offline. Online communities have provided spaces for people with similar interests, experiences, or challenges to connect and share their stories. In such cases, social media has played a critical role in reducing feelings of isolation and offering a sense of belonging.

So, what can we do to mitigate the negative impact of social media on our mental health? Firstly, practicing self-awareness and setting boundaries is essential. Being mindful of our social media use and intentionally taking breaks can help maintain a healthier relationship with these platforms. Engaging in activities that promote well-being, such as spending time with loved ones, exercising, or pursuing hobbies, can also help balance the impact of social media on our overall mental health.
